we will be offering free cereal to all who come to learn about all our club has to offer. The Rotaract Club of George Washington University is Rotary-sponsored international youth program that fosters leadership, professional work, and community service for young men and women between the ages of 18-30. Its goals are to teach young professionals to take action through community and international service and gain a global perspective that fosters world peace and cultural understanding as partners in service. In order to do the work we do, we want to grow our community on campus and that begins with you! All are welcome to come and learn more.

Smithsonian's FUTURES Exhibit

Part exhibition, part festival, FUTURES presents nearly 32,000 square feet of new immersive site-specific art installations, interactives, working experiments, inventions, speculative designs, and “artifacts of the future,” as well as historic objects and discoveries from 23 of the Smithsonian’s museums, major initiatives, and research centers. Of the nearly 150 objects on view, several are making their public debut: an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven rover from Alphabet’s X that could transform agriculture; a Planetary Society space sail for deep space travel; a Loon internet balloon; the first full-scale Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome built in North America; the world’s first controlled thermonuclear fusion device; and more.

Washington Harbour Skating Rink

The new year is here! Let’s enjoy these healthy and fun festivities from Healthy Living @ Himmelfarb’s January Study Break Guide.

Ice Skating at The Washington Harbour Ice Rink
Hours: Sunday - Thursday: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM. Friday - Saturday: 11:30 PM - 11 PM. Holiday hours vary.
The Washington Harbour Ice Rink officially opens for public skating season after the transformation from its interchangeable use as a picturesque fountain. The Washington Harbour Ice Rink will be open with updated hours through March 13, 2022, for recreational skating every day, including holidays.

Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week Returns!
Hours: Monday, January 17 - Sunday, January 23, 2022 
Support your local restaurants. More than 250 restaurants will participate in Winter Restaurant Week throughout DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Try a new restaurant or revisit an old favorite. Affordable menus will be offered at$22 lunch/brunch and $35/$55 dinner options. Dine-in or carryout service will be available. 

The Washington DC Auto Show
Date: Friday, January 21- Sunday, January 30, 2022
Tickets: Weekdays - Adult $12. Weekends - Adult $15.
The Auto Show is Back! This year’s show will feature hundreds of vehicles from top manufacturers, cutting-edge exhibits, the latest model cars, and displays of historic vehicles. Fun and exciting highlights will include a EV pavilion, Camp Jeep, Pepco EVsmart Ride ‘N Drive, and more! You don’t want to miss it. 

The REACH Winter Lanterns
Date: Wednesday, January 26 - Sunday, February 6, 2022
Location: The REACH Outdoor Spaces - Kennedy Center
In celebration of the Lunar New Year, the REACH glows again with the return of the stunning Winter Lanterns! Visitors can stroll through approximately 100 lanterns made up of 10,000 colored-LED lights, all crafted by Chinese artisans.

Light Yards 2021
Date: Wednesday, December 1st - Saturday, January 1, 2022, every night from 6pm - 10pm.
Location: 1300 First Street, SE

The larger-than-life light installation will feature illuminated 22 feet tall trees trimmed top to bottom in holiday decor and festooned lights that will cast The Yards’ Sun Deck with beautiful, colored patterns. This light-filled wonderland is the perfect place for the whole family to get in the holiday spirit and snap some Instagram-worthy pics, or wander before or after drinks and dinner at one of The Yards’ 20+ eateries.

GW Self-Care and Stress Management

The Well-being Skills Series is an easily accessible space to connect with other students and discuss mental wellness, which are all the more important now following this unprecedented time. MetroCooking DC Show!

The District’s Holiday Boat Parade

Celebrate the holidays with this iconic DC event that features over sixty beautifully decorated boats parading along the Washington Channel. Get into the spirit as you decorate ornaments. National Parks Offer Free Admission on Veterans Day!

Enjoy the great outdoors! National parks are America’s best idea, and there are more than 400 parks available to everyone, every day. This fee-free day provides a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite, especially one of the national parks that normally charge an entrance fee. The entrance fee waiver for fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping, boat launches, transportation, or special tours.COVID-19 Response

Georgetown French Market

The Georgetown BID is hosting their 18th annual Georgetown French Market October 1-3, 2021. This popular Parisian-inspired open-air market will feature sidewalk sales and specials from more than 25 locally-owned boutiques, cafés, and galleries along Wisconsin Avenue from O St to Reservoir Rd. All attendees are encouraged to wear masks throughout the French Market. To ensure a more comfortable pedestrian experience and allow for increased social distancing, the sidewalks along Book Hill will be temporarily widened  - an extension of our Georgetown Decks pilot program - to ensure everyone has enough room to comfortably enjoy the French Market. 

Takoma Park Street Festival

Mindful Monday: Meditation Session

Meditation is like a reset for your mind and body. With regular practice, you can cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance. In this session, you will learn a handful of modern and ancient practices that can settle the nervous system and train the brain to be more focused, engaged, and less reactive. This meditation session will be led by Nina Paul of the GW Exercise & Nutrition Sciences department.

GW Late Night is back with Boo Bash, our annual Halloween party! Join us for food, games, prizes, and all things Halloween. GW Late Night is a series that provides space for students to have fun and socialize, and take a break from academics, without the temptation or risks involved with drinking alcohol. This event will be held in-person. Students must register to attend. Event details will be provided on the day of the event to those who register via Engage. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be moved indoors and event protocols will align with DC COVID-19 guidelines.

H Street Festival

H Street Festival is one of the most anticipated and highly attended single-day festivals in Washington D.C.
