For assistance locating library materials on the 21st, please contact the Himmelfarb Library Reference Desk at 202-994-2850.  Electronic resources will be accessible using the e-Journals and e-Books links from the library web page.  Users can also continue to search catalog records in Health Information @ Himmelfarb during downtime but will not see current location and status information for print items.

ClinicalKey app
A ClinicalKey app is now available on Himmelfarb Library's App Shelf.  The ClinicalKey app provides a custom interface for searching and viewing content on ClinicalKey.  ClinicalKey provides access to extensive full-text holdings via a clinically-focused search interface.

ClinicalKey's holdings including 600+ full-text journals and 1,100+ full-text books as well as additional content including the FirstConsult clinical reference tool, drug information, clinical guidelines, ProceduresConsult, and extensive collections of images and videos.

ClinicalKey is searchable by keyword as well as disease, finding, procedure or drug, and uses smart search technology to map your search terms to relevant topics and deliver you the most relevant content pieces for frequently searched topics.

electricityOn Friday December 4 beginning at 11 p.m., Himmelfarb Library may experience intermittent power outages due to electrical work.  These power outages may affect computers, computer logins, printing, wireless access, and other systems.

 

If you are in Himmelfarb Library on Friday evening, library staff will ask all patrons to work on the first floor beginning at 10:30 p.m.  Please also remember to save your work frequently if you are using Himmelfarb computers, GW wireless, or have your computer plugged in.

ClinKey4NursesHimmelfarb Library is pleased to announce the availability of a new tool: ClinicalKey for Nursing.  ClinicalKey for Nursing will replace both Mosby's Nursing Consult and Mosby's Nursing Skills; these resources are being retired by the vendor on December 31, 2015.

ClinicalKey for Nursing provides access to high-quality, full-text nursing information and its features include:

  • 'Smart search' offers shortcuts to clinical concepts and also connects you to topic pages which feature the most useful books chapters and journal articles on frequently searched topics.
  • Full-text access to nearly 70 books50+ journalsMosby's Evidence-Based Nursing monographs, and Elsevier's Clinical Skills(the same content previously available in Mosby's Nursing Consult and Mosby's Nursing Skills).
  • Access to clinical and educational tools including drug monographs, Procedures Consult, Nursing Scales, clinical updates, core measures, practice guidelines, labs, and nursing educator topic searches.

ClinicalKey for Nursing is available now for your use.  Access to Mosby's Nursing Consult and Mosby's Nursing Skills will be available through December 31, 2015.
