HSRCHealth Sciences Research Commons (HSRC) hit 200,000 downloads and is still growing!  What does that mean?  GW research has become available to more users as Himmelfarb Library's  Health  Sciences  Research Commons gathers, archives and disseminates the research output of GW Milken Institute School of Public Health, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the School of Nursing, and Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library.

The Health Sciences Research Commons archives published material like journal articles as well as other types of materials including reports, posters, presentations, and more.  HSRC can also help capture your scholarly impact by tracking your article's views, downloads, and shares on social media and research managers such as Mendeley.  You can find a full list of materials and other useful information about getting your publications into the HSRC on the Author FAQ.
If you have any questions about the Health Sciences Research Commons, please contact Meaghan Corbett (corbettm@gwu.edu).

understanding mental disordersPatient handouts are a great tool for clinicians, improving a patient’s commitment to a treatment plan as well as providing information for future reference.

A new edition of a popular patient handout title is available for psychiatric conditions - Understanding Mental Disorders: A Patient and Family Resource.

Three more sections have been added to this title, including Obsessive-Compulsive, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

These new sections (as well as the existing ones) are available through Himmelfarb Library’s institutional subscription.

The content of these chapters is taken from APA’s Understanding Mental Disorders: Your Guide to DSM-5®.

Existing chapters that are included in this resource are:

Soon to be included are Anxiety and Addiction.

This resource is key for practicing medical professionals and those interested in key psychiatric conditions and patient education.  Each handout provides an easy-to-understand yet comprehensive guide to each condition.
