GW Weekly Poker Session

Come and join the Poker Club for their spring 2023 weekly session! Anyone interested at any skill level is encouraged to join. The rule structure is Texas no limit hold’em. Everyone will receive a fictional cash bankroll upon registration, and that money stays with you throughout the semester. Any profits made during weekly play will accumulate, and players are ranked based on their bankroll value for end-of-semester tournament qualification.

2023 Cherry Blossom Kite Festival

Spring on the fun at the Blossom Kite Festival with activities, music, competitions, performances, and more! Kite enthusiasts, beginners, families, and friends are all welcome. Bring your own kite, purchase one onsite, or pick up a free kite kit that you can decorate onsite. This year’s festival will also feature a day-long celebration of dynamic traditional Japanese drumming, showcasing of kites by Mr. Mikio Toki, a master of traditional Edo-style kites, and performances and demonstrations by the local Wings Over Washington Kite Club.

Washington Jazz Arts Institute Concert

GW Anne Lindberg: What Color is Divine Light?

Contemporary artist Anne Lindberg’s immersive installation transforms light and thread into a site for contemplation and reflection on connections with ourselves, communities, and individual conceptions of the divine. Curling & Cocktails at the Wharf Ice Rink

Pre-register to reserve your spot. Games begin at 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm, every Wednesday through February 15. Each registration is for you and up to three teammates (4 total). Walk-ups are allowed only if space and time are available.

Looking for a fun way to spend some time outside this winter? Head to the Wharf for a friendly game of curling! The Canadian game marries hockey and shuffleboard for a low-pressure evening on the ice—no skates needed! Beginners are welcome and encouraged. Spectators are welcome, too! Cheer on the players and learn the game from the sidelines. 

Presidential Family Fun Day at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery

Asian Art Museum - Meditation and Mindfulness Sessions

Meditation helps us build a relationship to a place of inner quietude. National Gallery of Art: Drop-in Art Making

The District’s Holiday Boat Parade

Enjoy safe, fun, and free outdoor Yoga or Yoga Sculpt Bodyweight (Tuesdays with CorePower) and Pilates (Wednesdays) classes taught by certified fitness instructors. Classes are weather-dependent. Rock the Park DC - Outdoor Music Series

National Book Festival

Sunday Serenity Yoga

Join local yoga instructors for our 8th annual summer Sunday yoga series at Dumbarton House. Enjoy our serene outdoor space for this 60-minute all-levels class that should be fun and challenging for both experienced yogis and yoga skeptics alike! Attendees should bring their own mat and must complete a waiver to participate.

Dance Sanctuaries

National Independence Day Parade

Friday Night Dancing: Swing Dance

The Transit Pier holds free-themed dance nights on the second Friday for the months of June, July, and August. Professional dancers will be on hand to help you learn dance moves. Enjoy a night of dancing and cocktails.

Fitness in the Park

Sport & Health and Barracks Row Main Street have teamed together to offer Fitness in the Parks - a series of FREE outdoor fitness classes designed to encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles for all fitness levels. The community can join all summer long at parks for fun classes like Zumba, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, and more. Classes
maybe canceled due to inclement weather or wet grounds.

Jane Austen Film Festival

GW Free Culinary Medicine Hands-on Cooking Classes via Zoom

In this 7-week Beginner course, you will learn to make healthy, delicious Mediterranea recipes. This course also covers knife skills, and basic nutrition concepts such as building a healthy meal, eating on a budget, meal planning, and how to use leftovers. Participants prepare different recipes each week and learn to make terrific, delicious food that’s also good for you! After the Beginner course, participants can take the next-level Intermediate course.

Capital Pride Festival

Join the LGBTQ+ community on America’s Mainstreet, historic Pennsylvania Avenue, for the return of the Capital Pride Festival. Engage with over 300 service organizations, social groups, businesses, amateur sports leagues, faith-based groups, educational institutions, government agencies, artists, consultants, potential employers, etc.
