On Saturday December 7 from 6 am to 10 am, fire alarm, power, and elevator testing will occur in Ross Hall and Himmelfarb Library. The normal power and emergency power will be tested to make sure all services are converted if an emergency should occur in the building.

Himmelfarb Library's Thanksgiving weekend hours are as follows:
The computers in Himmelfarb Library will be updated on Tuesday, November 26th beginning at 2:00 a.m. During this 1-2 hour time period, users will not be able to login to or use the computers.
The boilers in Ross Hall will be undergoing repairs from 12am-9am on Saturday, November 16.
You may experience cooler conditions in the building during these hours while the boilers are shut down.
Consider bringing a blanket or wearing warm clothing if you are planning on studying overnight.
Himmelfarb Library is experiencing an access issue today. Resources are accessible from our Databases webpage for on-campus users and for off-campus users accessing via VPN/GWireless. Unfortunately, access to information resources using the WRLC login is not available at this time.
Due to construction, there will be electrical outages in the Himmelfarb over the upcoming weekend. Himmelfarb Library will close at 11pm on 10/11/2013 and reopen at 4pm on 10/13/2013.
The following alternative study space will be available:
Hospital rooms 6101, 6108, 6111, and 6117 and the computer lab are reserved the entire weekend for quiet study. All other study rooms on the 6th floor of the Hospital are available for study when unscheduled. Library reference staff will be available to help with research questions, renew books, etc. from noon until 4pm on 10/12/2013 in the Hosptial’s 6th floor computer lab. Use the “ask us” feature on the Library’s home page (www.g.wumc.edu/library) to submit questions from wherever you are studying!
Burns Law Library: Students may access the Burns Law Library for quiet study this weekend only. No passes needed. Please have your GW id ready to show. The Burns Law Library is open from 8am until 11:45pm on Fridays and from 9am until 11:45pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Gelman Library: This Library remains open 24/7 during the fall 2013 semester. The Eckles Library on the Mount Vernon campus is open at the following times: Fridays 8am until 10pm, Saturdays 10am-10pm, and Sundays 10am-3am.
As the fall semester begins, some undergraduate students may ask their professors to secure access for them to Himmelfarb Library. Himmelfarb Administration and the Deans of the SMHS, SPHHS and SON would like to remind all faculty of the library’s access policy for those students.
Undergraduate students at GW do not have access to Himmelfarb Library unless they have declared a major in the SMHS, SPHHS, or SON. As many of Himmelfarb’s resources are available online, we expect that undergraduate students enrolled in a course in one of the three schools will physically use Gelman Library.
However, if a faculty member has placed print or AV (non-electronic) materials on reserve at Himmelfarb for an undergraduate course, we will arrange to have their students coded for semester access to the Library so that they can utilize these materials.
Additionally, if a faculty member is scheduled to teach an undergraduate class to be held at Himmelfarb, we will arrange to have those students coded for semester physical access upon receipt of student lists. For individual undergraduate review sessions or other course-related sessions conducted in Himmelfarb Library rooms, we will issue access passes once names and class number(s) are submitted.
Should students need to borrow books from Himmelfarb, they may look them up in our Library Catalog and then contact our Circulation Desk, whose staff members will pull the requested books from the shelves. We will let the students enter in order to borrow and return those materials. The phone number at Circulation is (202) 994-2962.

Due to the emergency water outage, Himmelfarb Library will be closed from 4 p.m. on Friday, August 9th through 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 10th. Online resources will continue to be available during the closure.
Himmelfarb Library will maintain the following hours during the month of July:
Sunday, June 30
Close at 12 midnight
Starting Monday, July 1
Monday - Friday
7:30am-12 midnight
Saturday - Sunday
9:00am-12 midnight
July 4- Closed
We will continue these hours through Sunday, August 4; we will open at 9am on that day and resume 24/7 hours.
