Please join us in congratulating Dr. Bowleg and her 1st-year student Myla Lyons who spoke at the Dr. John Lamont Peterson Annual Research Symposium for the Student Opportunities for AIDS/HIV Research (SOAR) Program at the University of Michigan .

Dr. Bowleg's talk was titled "Want to Be A Future HIV Prevention and Treatment Researcher? You're Going to Need to Critical (and Intersectional). She interviewed Myla about her experience as a first year doctoral student with critical theoretical perspectives and nontraditional research methods (e.g., qualitative).

At the end of the presentation, Dr. Gary Harper (the SOAR joint-PI and Myla's mentor when she was at SOAR) surprised them with beautiful glass prism plaques.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mbaba on the successful defense of her dissertation, titled: The Stereotypical Yogi(ni): Exploring the Effects of Prototype Similarity and Racial Centrality on Black Adult Women’s Willingness to Practice Yoga.
