UPWARD BOUND TUTOR/COUNSELOR
Frostburg State University’s Upward Bound Program is Seeking Tutor/Counselors For Federally-Funded, Three and Five-Week Summer Residential Education Program Designed To Encourage & Motivate Qualified Disadvantaged High School Students To Pursue Post-Secondary Education & To Develop Skills & Attitudes Essential For Success Beyond High School. Five-Week Program June 13 - July 23, 2021; Three-Week Program June 13 – July 9, 2021 (tentative dates) And Includes One Week Of Training. Salary: Three-Week Tutor/Counselor $1,250 Plus Room & Board; Five-Week Tutor/Counselor $2,100 Plus Room & Board. Upward Bound is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of others.
Positions Will Serve As Residence Hall Small-Group Supervisors & Tutors In Various Academic Areas; Chaperone Field Trips; Conduct Recreational Activities; Assist Classroom Instructors; Conduct Small Group Tutoring/Study Sessions; Enforce Safe, Positive & Productive Residence Hall Living Environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: One Year Undergraduate Experience; Excellent Interpersonal & Communication Skills; Ability To Relate To Diverse University Population; & Evidence Of Successful Academic Performance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience As Camp Counselor; Supervising Students In Residential Setting; Teaching & Tutoring In Math, Science, Writing or Foreign Language; & Experience Working W/Disadvantaged Youth. Individuals That Have Succeeded In Overcoming Barriers Similar To Those Confronting The FSU Upward Bound Students Are Encouraged To Apply.
