OVPR has announced the HFF competition for this year. Details below.

Deadline EXTENDED: 12:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, April 2, 2020.

Amount: Awards are up to $5,000, but successful applicants may be awarded less than the amount they apply for in order to fund as many deserving applicants as possible.

Award Period: July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021

Program Description: The goal of the Humanities Facilitating Fund (HFF) is to provide funding for the promotion of scholarship of humanities faculty at GW.

Eligibility: Regular-Status Faculty in humanities disciplines (including Corcoran faculty) may apply.

Applications must be submitted in .doc, .docx, or .pdf formats, and uploaded into the OVPR-InfoReady application portal along with completed required information fields.

L’Oreal USA for Women in Science Program 2020

The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists from a variety of fields including the life and physical/material sciences, technology (including computer science), engineering, and mathematics, at a critical stage in their careers. They’re seeking five exceptional female scientists looking to advance their research and serve as role models for the next generation of girls in STEM.

Candidates must have completed their PhD and have started in their postdoctoral position by the application deadline. Note: Applicants must be US Citizens or permanent residents (green card holders).

GW Confucius Institute 2020 Research Grant Competition Is Now Open

Dean Wahlbeck is happy to announce that the GW Confucius Institute has opened its application process for research proposals related to China. The research proposals are considered and selected by a peer-review committee composed of GW faculty members and, ultimately, by the CCAS Dean. Research results may be disseminated without limitation.

In the funding cycle 2019, the GW Confucius Institute funded 11 proposals for faculty in the humanities and social sciences, which has made the total number proposals funded 54 since 2014. This funding has successfully supported research trips to China, symposiums, database subscriptions, data collection, guest speakers, conference travel, and other scholarly activities.

The following faculty are eligible:

Regular full-time faculty in the humanities and social science
Specialized full-time faculty in the humanities and social sciences who do not have substantial outside funding to support their activities

Proposal Due Date: Friday, February 14, 2020

Funding Announcement Date: February 28, 2020

Funding is available from March 1 to December 31, 2020.

Become an Intramural Funding Reviewer

Review CCFF and Dean's Research Chair intramural funding applications!

In order to ensure that applications made to these programs are fairly evaluated, we rely on reviews from members of the CCAS community.

Get to know your colleagues better, find potential future collaborators, and gain experience of different proposal types. Additionally, being a reviewer benefits the wider college and is a form of service that you can record on your annual report in Lyterati.

Reviewers will be needed in January for the Dean's Research Chair and in February / March for the CCFF program. The more internal reviewers we can identify, the lighter the load that any given reviewer has to carry.

Please record your willingness to serve as reviewer for CCAS intramural funding opportunities on this form.

Note that all reviews will be anonymized before sharing with the PI of the proposal. Each proposal is 3 - 6 pages in length.

Thank you for your assistance in maintaining our strong intramural funding programs!
