GW Confucius Institute 2020 Research Grant Competition Is Now Open

Dean Wahlbeck is happy to announce that the GW Confucius Institute has opened its application process for research proposals related to China. The research proposals are considered and selected by a peer-review committee composed of GW faculty members and, ultimately, by the CCAS Dean. Research results may be disseminated without limitation.

In the funding cycle 2019, the GW Confucius Institute funded 11 proposals for faculty in the humanities and social sciences, which has made the total number proposals funded 54 since 2014. This funding has successfully supported research trips to China, symposiums, database subscriptions, data collection, guest speakers, conference travel, and other scholarly activities.

 The following faculty are eligible:

  • Regular full-time faculty in the humanities and social science
  • Specialized full-time faculty in the humanities and social sciences who do not have substantial outside funding to support their activities

Proposal Due Date: Friday, February 14, 2020

Funding Announcement Date: February 28, 2020

Funding is available from March 1 to December 31, 2020.
