Virtual Spring Symposium 2020 in Review
The Nashman Center Spring 2020 Symposium was a success! The first ever "virtual" Symposium featured 26 presentations. Thank you to the 59 students who prepared video presentations about their community engaged scholarship projects this semester. Work from across the institution was represented, including the Biology, Geography and Sociology Departments, as well as the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, The School of Nursing, the School of Public Health.

Dr. Uri Colón-Ramos, Associate Professor of Nutrition & Global Health Department of Global Health (primary) and Department of Exercise & Nutrition Sciences, recently won the Nashman Faculty Development Grant. Dr. Sara Wilensky, Special Services Faculty member for Undergraduate Education and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education, “leads projects on safety net issues, focusing on the financing and access-to-care barriers faced by vulnerable and underserved populations.” Professor Wilensky has a PhD in Public Policy from GW, but also happens to have a JD from the University of Pennsylvania. The upcoming 17th annual Global Health & Innovation Conference at Yale on April 4-5, 2020. This is the world’s largest and leading global health conference as well as the largest social entrepreneurship conference. The conference will take place at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Leah Brooks
Dr. Leah Brooks, Associate Professor of Public Policy and Public Affairs, centers her research on the formation of urban spaces, the continuation of urban development, the health of urban communities, and how governmental change affects urban areas. Areas of Dr. Brooks' expertise include, but are not limited to public and urban economics and political economy.
