In the past Ruzica Simic was a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Economic Policy at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Croatia. In spring 2010 she completed a fellowship in the Department of Economics at The George Washington University as part of the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is supported by the U.S. State Department. Her mentor was Professor Joseph Pelzman.
Ruzica is a PhD student at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. As a Chevening scholar she received her MA in Public Policy from King’s College London. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb.
Before joining the academic community she was an advisor in the Croatian National Competitiveness Council and had worked in the private sector as well. Both her educational and professional background inspired her to focus her research on institutional changes in the transition economies of Southeast Europe.
