During the 2006-2007 academic year Eralda (Methasani) Çani was a visiting research scholar at The George Washington University, affiliated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. Her stay in USA was supported by the Junior Faculty Development Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Her advisor at The George Washington University was Professor Dinah Shelton, School of Law.
Eralda (Methasani) Çani is a pedagogue in the Department of Public Law at Tirana Law School, Tirana University. She is currently teaching courses in Albanian Administrative Law and Human Rights. She worked in the USA to create a new course on Comparative Administrative Law. She is also reviewing the syllabus for the Human Rights course and completing a second joint publication of a Glossary on Human Rights in Albanian-English.
Education
November 2002 – present: Candidate for Doctor of Sciences (PhD) degree at the Tirana University, School of Law. Dissertation: “Council of Ministers, a constitutional organ.”
August 1997 – June 1998: LLM in Comparative Constitutional Law at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary. Title of thesis: “Gender employment discriminations: the case of Albania”.
January 1995 – July 1995: Certificate (Tempus exchange student) at the University of Leyden, Netherlands, Faculty of Law. Courses taken: Comparative Private Law; An Economic Analysis of Laws and Regulations; Actual Problems in Criminal Law/Organized Crime; East-West Relations in the Period of Exchange; Comparative Procedure and Evidence.
October 1992 – June 1996: Bachelors Degree in Law, Tirana University, Faculty of Law. Thesis topic: Legal families in the private law and the qualification of the Albanian legal system.

Eralda has published several articles in the field of public law, specifically in constitutional and administrative law, focusing on legal and interpretative issues in the field of Albanian public law. Eralda has published a compilation of administrative law legislation which serves researchers and law students as well as practicing lawyers. She has also co-written a glossary of human rights terms, in English-Albanian. A second edition of this publication is currently being prepared. She has also prepared reports on the human rights situation in Albanian.
