Reminder:   Students unable to enroll in coursework for any reason during the Spring or Fall semester, must enroll in a Leave of Absence.  This includes instances where non- enrollment is due to lack of available courses matching  a student’s program requirements.   See: General Administrative and Student Forms.

ETL Program Fall 2024 Withdrawal / Refund Period
The first day of the GW Fall 2024 academic semester is August 22, 2024. ETL classes start on August 28, 2024.

100% Refund Period

From the first day of the academic semester, until the end of the second week of the academic semester: August 22 - September 4, 2024

60% Refund Period

From the first day of the third week of the academic semester, until the end of the third week of the academic semester: September 5 - September 11, 2024

40% Refund Period

From the first day of the fourth week of the academic semester, until the end of the fourth week of the academic semester: September 12 - September 18, 2024

20% Refund Period

From the first day of the fifth week of the academic semester, until the end of the fifth week of the academic semester: September 19 - September 25, 2024

No Refund

On and after the first day of the sixth week of the academic semester: September 26, 2024 or later

Federal financial aid recipients who drop or withdraw from a course after the start date of the academic semester may incur out of pocket expenses. Federal aid recipients must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) towards degree completion, and course withdrawal(s) factor into a student’s Satisfactory Academic Progress. Graduating Graduate Certificate Students: Application for Graduate Certificate Completion due.

September 1 - October 1

Graduating ETL Masters Students: Comprehensive Exam Request Form due. In order to be cleared to sit for the comprehensive examination, students must be in good standing and have completed all of their coursework or be in their last semester of coursework and have no Incompletes ("I's") or In Progress Grades ("IPG's") on their record.

September 1 - November 15

Graduating ETL Masters Students: Graduation Application due.
We recommend early (September) submission of the graduation application.

🎓 Summer 2024 ETL Graduating Masters Degree Students - Attending Spring 2024 Ceremonies:

Summer 2025 ETL graduating masters degree students who need no more than 9 credit hours to complete their degree requirements and are able to obtain the needed academic credit hours during Summer 2025, may participate ("walk through") the Spring 2025 GSEHD Celebration Ceremony and GWU Commencement Ceremony. Students in this category should adhere to the following deadlines:

January 1 - April 1

Notify ETL Program Administration etladmin@gwu.edu of your intent to complete your program requirements in Summer 2025 and that you plan to participate in Spring 2025 ceremonies.

March 16 - April 1

Graduation Application due and should be submitted only after you have registered for your final Summer 2025 class(es). On the application indicate you are a Summer 2025 graduate participating in preceding Spring 2025 ceremonies.

March 16 - June 1

Comprehensive Exam Request Form due. In order to be cleared to sit for the comprehensive examination, students must be in good standing and have completed all of their coursework or be in their last semester of coursework and have no Incompletes ("I's") or In Progress Grades ("IPG's") on their record.
