The Government Contracts Advisory Council (GCAC) allows select organizations and individuals to engage in GW Law’s unique and dynamic government procurement law community. Council members develop and maintain connections with cutting-edge legal researchers and policy makers, and have the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of this unparalleled program. Council members serve for a three-year term, which can be renewed. The council typically meets twice a year: spring and fall. Learn more about the GCAC in this interview with its Chair, Paul Khoury.
Government Contracts Advisory Council Benefits
Government Contracts Advisory Council Membership
Council members include legal and business leaders in the government procurement community. The GCAC meets in the spring and fall to consider topics of current interest. Over the course of a weekend, Council members will attend a reception, dinner, breakfast, and lunch so that members can get to know one another and other GW Law thought leaders.
Support of the GW Law Career Development Office
Among the many services GW Law’s
Career Development Office provides is the support from an Associate Director who specializes in government contracts law and can assist members with recruitment efforts. In addition, Council members are invited to participate in our Government Procurement Law networking events.
Council Member Use of GW Law School Facilities
Council members enjoy the use of our state-of-the-art classrooms, conference rooms, and moot court rooms to host a variety of events, ranging from one-on-one meetings to daylong symposia and elegantly catered dinners.
Access to Government Procurement Library Privileges & Resources
GW Law proudly maintains the best government procurement collection in the world. Each member becomes a “Friend of the Jacob Burns Law Library.” This entitles the firm or company to two library cards, which will allow any member of the organization to gain access to the library, to enjoy expedited interlibrary loan privileges, and to request support from the Law School’s Associate Dean for Information Services.
Government Contracts Advisory Council Member Acknowledgement
Each Council member is prominently
acknowledged in Government Procurement Law program brochures widely distributed to prospective and current students, on the Government Procurement Law program website, and through other materials for events produced by the Government Procurement Law Program.
Contributing to Academic Discussion & Scholarship
Participation on the Council offers an opportunity to share knowledge with other industry leaders through thought-provoking discussions at the fall and spring meetings, social events, and in more structured activities, such as assisting with scholarship through editing or collaboration, guest lecturing to students, co-hosting government procurement conferences and webinars, participating in smaller group meetings arranged under the auspices of GW Law, and (as needs permit) teaching.
