AY24-25 Scholarship Awardees

Jakub Berkowicz is the inaugural “Bingham” scholar. Jakub is a 3L concentrating in Government Procurement & Cybersecurity. He is currently a research assistant for Professor Christopher Yukins and spent last summer interning for Matrea Management, LLC.

Bryan Dewan is this year’s “Boyd” scholar. He is a 3L concentrating in Government Procurement Law. He is the editor-in-chief of the Public Contract Law Journal and vice president of GW Law’s Government Contracts Student Association. He is the co-winner of the 2024 Arnold & Porter Government Contracts Moot Court Competition. After graduation, he will join Crowell & Moring LLP.

Danial Esmaeilian is this year’s “Daniel Martin” scholar. Danial is a 1L with an interest in government contracts. He graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2024.

Adel Mansour is this year’s “Davis” scholar. Adel is a 3L concentrating in Government Procurement Law. He is a notes editor for the Public Contract Law Journal, has completed an internship with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and spent last summer with PilieroMazza.

Michael Schulien is this year’s “Murray Schooner” scholar. He is a 3L concentrating in Government Procurement Law and has completed internships with the Judge Marian Horn of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and Civilian Board of Contract Appeals. He spent last summer with Haynes and Boone.

Zoe Steur is the inaugural recipient of the new “Schooner Family Scholarship.” Zoe is a 3L from Strasbourg, France and a proud Alumni of the University of Utah. She is pursuing a Concentration in Government Procurement Law and is currently an Articles Editor for the Public Contract Law Journal.

LLM candidate, Lori K. Stibb, is this year’s Coalition for Government Procurement Scholar. Lori is pursuing her LLM in Government procurement law. She is a civilian attorney with the Department of the Navy’s Office of General Counsel supporting the Navy in the Middle East. Among her many accomplishments, Lori was awarded the Civilian Service Commendation Medal for her direct support of Operations Allies Refuge in Afghanistan.

Obiama Ugorji is this year’s Harris scholar. “Obi” is a 2L member of the Public Contract Law Journal. He spent last summer as a law clerk with Northrop Grumman, interned in Fall ’24 for FEMA’s OCC Procurement Law Branch, and will spend next summer with Crowell & Moring LLP.

Rebecca Van Vliet is this year’s “Burg” Scholar. Rebecca is a 3L concentrating in Government Procurement Law and is a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal. She is a research assistant to Dean Jessica Tillipman and will be joining the law firm of Crowell & Moring after graduation.

Kristina Zaslavskaya is this year’s “Lees” scholar. Kristina is a 3L concentrating in Government Procurement Law. She is president of the GW Law Government Contracts Student Association, Co-Chair of the 2024-25 Government Arnold & Porter Government Contracts Moot Court Competition, and has interned with the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, L3Harris, the General Services Administration, and Transportation Security Administration.
