GW Law Hosts IFBEC Annual Fall Conference

On October 15-17, 2024, the GW Law Government Procurement Law Program hosted the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct (IFBEC)‘s Annual Conference at The George Washington University Law School.

The event titled, “Shaping the Future: Trends and Insights for Tomorrow,” brought together dozens of global industry leaders, NGOs, government officials, and international organizations to discuss best practices, share insights, and explore the latest policy developments in aerospace and defense ethics. GW Law speakers included Dean Dayna Bowen Matthew, Senior Associate Dean Steven L Schooner, and Associate Dean for Government Procurement Law Studies, Jessica Tillipman. Speakers held sessions on topics such as compliance best practices, industry disruption, technology, and human rights in the aerospace and defense industry.

The event also featured the launch of the Routledge Handbook of Public Procurement Corruption, written by Professor Sope Williams and Dean Jessica Tillipman. Williams made a special trip from South Africa to talk about the new book at the conference. The publication offers a comprehensive overview of current research on public procurement corruption. It addresses the global issue of corruption in public procurement, particularly highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides in-depth analysis across various countries and sectors.

GW law students also participated in the event as volunteers and attendees, where they had the opportunity to network with experienced compliance practitioners and learn about opportunities and emerging issues in ethics and compliance.
