On Wednesday, October 12th, the GW Law Environmental & Energy Law and Government Procurement Law Programs hosted a virtual panel discussion about the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
The discussion drew on the perspectives of experts on the GW Law faculty who reflected on how the IRA impacts their areas of expertise in environmental and energy law.
Robert Glicksman commented on how the IRA affects Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory authority under the Clean Air Act and whether the Act confirms or overrules Massachusetts v. EPA or West Virginia v. EPA; Donna Attanasio addressed whether the IRA’s incentives to decarbonize the energy sector and promote renewable energy sources will be effective and equitable; Randall Abate examined how the IRA seeks to support environmental justice communities and will consider potential barriers to the success of those efforts; and Steven Schooner discussed how the IRA impacts sustainable government procurement initiatives.
The faculty discussed these issues and more during this free webinar, moderated by Jessica Tillipman.
