500KV Mosby Substation Visit for a Demonstration of Static Var Compensator and PMU Setup

This is a unique opportunity for a site visit to a 500 KV Mosby Substation packed with modern features and technology. This substation features 2 Static VAR Compensators, 250 MVAR Plus, and 150 MVAR Minus to condition and mitigate voltage disturbances in the grid. The substation has a full complement of digital protective relays, condition-based monitoring, and synchrophasors.
Mosby is also a unique example of a major switching station featuring state-of-the-art physical and cyber security. The guides will discuss technological features and identify the major types of equipment.
The cost for this technical tour is $30 per person. Interested participants can add the technical tour as an registration item within the conference registration process.
Note: Each participant will need to wear natural fiber cloths and closed-toe shoes. No flip-flops or sandals. Dominion Energy will supply additional personal protective equipment such as hard hats.
