The Institute on Project-Based Learning at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is a resource to promote and support efforts by colleges and universities looking to advance project-based learning on their campuses. The Institute is a 2.5-day intensive workshop where teams of five or more faculty and administrators work with experts to learn about project-based learning and make tangible progress to integrate best practices into their own curricula. The Institute will run from Thursday, June 20, through Saturday, June 22, 2024, and is held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. The American Public Health Association (APHA) 2024 Annual Meeting and Expo, Community Based Public Health Caucus invites your abstract submissions related to the science and practice of community-based public health. The 2024 APHA Annual Meeting and Expo will take place in Minneapolis, MN on October 27-30, 2024. They are looking for abstracts that advance our knowledge of community-academic partnering in multi-disciplinary collaboration and a diversity of community-based public health activities, including basic and applied research projects, interventions, teaching and service learning projects. Join the American Association of Colleges and Universities in a virtual session on learning about strategies for dismantling the belief in the hierarchy of human value on college campuses. Project Pericles is accepting applications for their Civic and Voter Engagement Fellowship. Fellows will receive a $1,000 grant to use Periclean Civic Engagement Resources in the humanities for Spring- Fall 2024. These modules help educate students about voter suppression and bridge the gap between academic content and the real world. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. Join the Bertelsmann Foundation and the John Brademas Center of New York University for an in-person screening and panel discussion on, Barry Farm: Community, Land & Justice. This film was directed by Sabiyha Prince and Samuel George, who will join the discussion after the screening. The film tells the story of community, justice, and displacement in Washington DC through the lens of  Barry Farm. The Coalition of Urban & Metropolitan Universities is calling for proposals for their upcoming conference themed Beyond Boundaries. They are looking for proposals on the topics of anchor strategies, belonging, equity, and justice, democracy, impact, K-16 partnerships, and social and economic mobility. The Civic Engagement & Voting Rights Teacher Scholars program provides a space for teachers to create curriculums that for the American democracy. Join the Transform Mid-Atlantic Region on April 6th, 2023 for the Spring 2024 TMA Regional Civic Engagement Summit. Come together with peers and colleagues from the region to build leadership, media, and civic engagement skills. There will be workshops for students faculty and administrators led by national organizations dedicated to advancing responsible civic leadership, meaningful dialogue, and sustainable campus democratic engagement plans. There will also be an opportunity for student leaders from throughout the region to engage in a poster session related to the conference’s theme. The partners for this summit are ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge,  Towson University, New Politics Leadership Academy, Urban Rural Action, AASCU American Democracy Project, and other regional leaders. Metropolitan Universities  Journal is accepting submissions for an issue on Exploring the Role of Higher Education in Prison and Returning Citizens on Campuses and Communities. This issue will have guest editors Darren Wheelock and Theresa Tobin from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Manuscripts must be submitted by May 1st, 2024. This issue is scheduled for publication in December 2024/January 2025. Click here to learn more.

The Engagement Scholarship Consortium will be hosting their 2024 conference themed “Pathways to Prosperity: Building Sustainable Futures through Community Engagement”. The conference will be held in Oregon on October 9-10, 2024 with a pre conference on October 7-8, 2024. The Community-Based Global Learning Summit will be held on Nov 8 - 10, 2024 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute Worcester, MA. Each CBGL Summit is geared to stimulating conversations about improving community engagement. This conversation is held with students, faculty, and community partners. The theme of the summit is Collaboration for a Better World: Global Learning, Hope, and Justice.
