Routledge and AAC&U are seeking chapter submissions for an edited volume titled "Equitable Community Engagement with Colleges and Universities: Exploring Equity in Community-Campus Relationships." The book will examine how equity is perceived, defined, and practiced in community-campus partnerships across diverse contexts.
Abstract submissions of 250 words are due August 23, 2024. Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit full proposals by November 8. The editors welcome contributions from community organizations, faculty, staff, practitioners, and students, with preference given to collaboratively written submissions.
This volume aims to critically explore equitable approaches to community engagement in higher education through case studies, reflections, and research examining:
- How equity is defined across diverse cultures and perspectives.
- Frameworks and models for implementing equitable engagement.
- Building trusting relationships between communities and institutions.
- Centering social justice and anti-racism in engagement practices.
- Navigating cross-cultural values and diverse standpoints.
- Institutionalizing and sustaining equitable partnerships.
Chapters should be 3,000-4,000 words and follow APA 7th edition guidelines. The full timeline is:
- August 23, 2024: Abstract submission deadline
- October 11, 2024: Invitations sent for full proposals
- November 8, 2024: Full proposals due
- December 20, 2024: Chapter invitations sent
- April 11, 2025: Final chapter submissions due
