In partnership with Age-Friendly DC, Montgomery County, Hyattsville, Arlington and Alexandria, this inaugural, live, virtual summit aims to convene regional leaders and other multisector parties who are interested in advancing age-friendly initiatives.
The genesis of the summit derives from national work to advance an Age-Friendly Ecosystem; led by the John A. Hartford Foundation, the World Health Organization, AARP, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Trust for America’s Health, among others.

Pre-Recorded Pre-Summit Content
- Registered participants will be advised to listen to pre-recorded podcasts on a variety of topics related to age-friendly initiatives prior to the live summit. These podcasts have been recorded with national leaders in the age-friendly space and topics include an overview of the Age-Friendly Ecosystem, as well as Age-Friendly: Health Systems, Public Health, Arts & Creativity, Businesses, and Universities.
Live Summit Content
- May 4: Regional leaders will present in 15- to 20-minute LIVE “TED Talks” to share regional best practices, frameworks, and/or resources to advance an age-friendly ecosystem.
- May 5: Local municipality leaders (Age-Friendly DC, Montgomery County, Hyattsville, Arlington and Alexandria) will share best practices and exemplary case studies of age-friendly initiatives.
