The Nashman Center’s MLK Day of Service is January 18th

If these one-day service projects and workshops align with your course goals, you are welcome to encourage participation by allowing students to report these service activities toward their course requirement.

Schedule:

  • 1:00pm ET  -1:45pm ET Virtual Opening Program & Keynote Speaker
  • 2:00pm ET - 3:30pm ET Virtual Service Project OR Workshop* (some workshops start at 3pm)
  • Ongoing - Winter Care Package Drive 

SERVICE/PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS

  • Hunger Simulation & Letter Writing with Capital Area Foodbank, 2pm EST
  • Letter Writing with Operation Gratitude (Led by GW Silver Wings), 2pm EST.
  • Phone Banking with Girls on the Run-DC, 2pm EST.
  • Transcribe Historical Documents with Smithsonian Transcription Center, 2pm EST.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

  • Dive-In Directly With Your Community - Direct Service Opportunities with the Nashman Center, 2pm EST.
  • Education and Equity with GW Jumpstart, 2pm EST.
  • Peace Circle with Little Friends for Peace (LFFP), 2pm EST.
  • Policy Advocacy as a Pathway to Change, 2pm EST. 
  • Storytelling about Belief Development with GW Art Therapy, 2pm EST. 
  • Navigating Dialogues, 3pm EST.
