Campus Compact Launches Webinar Series on Youth Gun Violence Prevention Through Community Engagement

The Campus Compact and Academy of Community Engagement Scholarship (ACES) are launching a new webinar series focused on addressing youth gun violence through community-engaged scholarship. Running from December 2024 to June 2025, the "Addressing Wicked Issues" series will explore how higher education institutions can contribute to preventing youth gun violence through research, teaching, and community partnerships.

The six-part series kicks off on December 11th with a coalition conversation, followed by monthly workshops covering:

Each session offers unique insights and tools for fostering impactful partnerships and civic engagement.

Dr. Camille Williamson, DSW, LCSW, Program Manager at the American Medical Association's Center for Health Equity and Campus Compact Knowledge Creation Fellow, will moderate the series.

The initiative aims to examine root causes of gun violence while highlighting successful prevention strategies. Participants will explore how higher education professionals can develop local solutions through various approaches including community-engaged research, teaching, and student leadership.
