Tamara Taggart, Ph.D., MPH., and Assistant Professor, is a leader in the Department of Prevention and Community Health at GWU. Dr. Taggart is an expert in HIV/AIDS studies, behavioral health, prevention, and health disparities, among many others. Her current research examines the ways in which social and cultural identity influence health behaviors among racial, ethnic minorities, and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescents and emerging adults.
Through Dr. Taggart’s research methods, she aims to implement interventions to reduce HIV risk and substance use among marginalized communities, specifically targeting young adults. The integration of concepts and theories from epidemiology, psychology, and sociology is what makes Dr. Taggart’s research unique.
