Guest speaker Dr. Khalil G. Muhammed will be speaking at the “Black is Democracy,” an event co-sponsored by the GW Black Law Student Association (BLSA) and Sociology Department, on Saturday, February 20th, at 12:00pm. Topics to be discussed will include: property rights, policing, incarceration, public policy, and more.
The event will be moderated by the Sociology Department's own Dr. Carlos Bustamante. Following the recent events surrounding unprecedented racial strife of the past year, join The Petey Greene Program and The Undergraduate Chapter of the BLSA, as we delve into the question that has been on people’s minds: Is this what America is? Featuring Dr. Khalil Muhammad, professor of History, Race, and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School, who will discuss the role of race in the creation of American democracy.
The GW BLSA is also sponsoring the following upcoming event that may be of interest: Black is Political Power, a conversation about the power of the Black electorate, Grassroots Organizing, and Activism with Rev. Al Sharpton.
