US Immigration: Constructing a New System in the Biden Administration

  • January 29th at 12pm EST. Andrew Selee, from the Migration Policy Institute, and Cristina Jimenez, from United We Dream, will present US Immigration: Constructing a New System in the Biden Administration. To be added to the invitation list, email isim@georgetown.edu.

The Latino Voice in News and Politics

  • February 11th at 7pm EST. "The GW School of Media and Public Affairs, in collaboration with the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute, will host a virtual panel discussion on the portrayal of the Latino community in the mainstream US press. The panel will include Ray Suarez, former Senior Correspondent for PBS and current US Correspondent for Euronews; Julio Ricardo Varela, Vice President at The Futuro Media Group and co-host of In the Thick podcast; Nora Lopez, President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ); and Rebecca Aguilar, president-elect for the Society of Professional Journalists. The event will be moderated by Barbara Benitez-Curry, Assistant Professor and Studio Manager at the School of Media and Public Affairs." RSVP here.

AMA: Legal Resources for DACA & Undocumented GW Student Entrepreneurs

  • March 4th at 12pm EST. "The GW Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship in partnership with the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service, presents the AMA (Ask-Me-Anything): Legal Resources for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) & Undocumented GW Student Entrepreneurs session. This session will feature a brief lecture on general guidance for how students who identify as being part of DACA or are undocumented can navigate the US legal system as they pursue their entrepreneurial dreams through creating a small business or startup venture. This session will help students understand all of the resources available to them whether they decide or continue their startup / business venture in the DMV area or across the country." RSVP here.
