Opportunities and Resources for Public Service & Civic Engagement

The Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service offers programs, awards, funding, and service opportunities for anyone who is interested in serving communities beyond the GW campus or wants to become more involved!

Provided below is a brief summary of some of the many resources that the Nashman Center offers.

Staying up to date on annual events: As a one-time service opportunity, engaging in annual events could be a great taste into the world of civic engagement. Due to COVID-19 the upcoming MLK Day of Service, Veteran Day of Service, and Give a Gift Fundraiser will all be virtual.

Do you have a plan for voting? GW Votes is a nonpartisan organization made up of students, faculty and staff aiming to keep the GW campus informed and prepared to vote. By using TurboVote, students can register to vote, request an absentee ballot, and can even sign up for election reminders!

If you are someone who has dedicated time to service or are working with a community partner and want to extend your course based scholarship there is a chance you are eligible for grants, awards, or fellowships

Nashman Center also provides community service-learning experiences during fall, winter, and spring breaks! Alternative Breaks offers various experiences to choose from that have the potential to build connections with others in the service-community while growing as an active citizen.

Take the next step with your community engaged scholarship!
