I appreciate how you placed your service experience into a larger conversation discussing loneliness and mental health. You noted that 7 Cups is "free," therefore accessible to all. Given the circumstances and the cost of health care, this is huge. You mentioned "anonymous listeners who are trained to be empathetic," what does this training look like? From observation, you focused on the platform, its cost, its accessibility, and why it should exist. Along with this, you spoke a little faster and your tone shifted, hinting at excitement(?), when you mentioned "contemporary solutions." Perhaps the accessibility of this platform and the contemporary solution it poses aligns with a personal, professional, or academic interest?

You reference "feeling whole" twice, in the context of "making others feel whole" and "making our society feel whole." How do others and/or how does society make us feel broken or incomplete? Lastly, you say, "...used as part of a broader nation wide discussion *on* mental health," and not used *for* a nation wide discussion on mental health. This may see inconsequential, but there's a difference.

What a detailed presentation on 7 cups! I wonder how you might encourage students and others right now to use this virtual platform while away from campus and when campus reopens. Have you shared this presentation with 7 cups yet? Maybe this can serve as a way to help GW students and others find another resource on mental health at a time when this is needed.

Totally agree Rachel! GW has GW Listens and I think this could be great opportunity for partnership in the future. It is clear there is a need for this and there are many other students doing their part to support one another. Thank you for sharing your presentation and work with 7Cups.

When listening to this presentation I immediately thought of GW Listens as well Jovanni! It think it would be a great opportunity for students who are currently involved in GW Listens to serve with 7Cups, or at least be able to offer it as a resource to other students. Allen, maybe you could share these ideas with 7Cups upon sharing your presentation with them? Great job!

      Hi Rachel,

Thank you! And that's a fantastic idea. I'll be sure to spread the word along as resources like this are essential for the odd world we live in now.

      Regards,
