Hi y’all my name is Eilish Zembilci and I’m from small-town-nowhere Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin! I’m a rising sophomore majoring in International Affairs concentrating in Global Public Health and minoring in Sustainability and Psych. DC can be a little too much concrete for me so I like to spend my spare time outside farming, hiking, climbing, swimming, or just reading in my ENO. I’m also super psyched to have a kitchen this year (hooray for honors housing) because I love to cook and bake!
The BEST part of being in the UHP is the coffee machine in the back of the townhouse. Only kidding… But, seriously, its small perks like the coffee machine in the townhouse, smaller classes with amazing professors, and yoga outings with your favorite Origins class (shout out to Professor Aviv!) that make being in the Honors Program so special! Welcome to the family!
SPAcialties: Dorm Life (whether it be roommate drama or homesickness) and getting involved in campus life (sports, orgs, and Greeks oh my!).
Category: Student Peer Advisors
Student Peer Advisors are Honors Students with the know-how to help you how-to the UHP!
[SPA 2014-2015] Kaley Pomerantz
What’s up friends! My name is Kaley and I’m from New City, New York! I am junior in the wonderful School of Business majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing! The Honors community is truly the best part of my GW experience. I have taken the coolest classes, with some of the coolest people, and I find so much comfort in knowing that there is an entire community of brilliant, quirky, and fun individuals that I can turn to for support! I loved taking Origins my freshman year! It was like nerdy, exciting, thought-provoking exercise for my brain, and one of the best classes I’ve taken (except for some of my business classes, like Human Capital Management). In my free time, I like to bask in school spirit at GW Basketball games, grocery shop, go for scenic runs, daydream, and partake in all of the touristy glory that DC offers me! Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, feel like chatting, or are simply looking for someone to grab coffee with! I love making new friends! This fall, I’ll be sippin’ tea at Royal Holloway University of London, but I’m looking forward to an especially great semester at GW in the spring.
SPAcialties: Business majors, getting involved on campus, housing problems, how/who to ask for help, fun things to do on campus and around DC, organization for disorganized people, Vern life, choosing the best snacks at Trader Joe’s.
[SPA 2014-2015] Jacob Pavlik
Hey guys, I’m Jacob! I’m from Portland, Oregon, and am majoring in Geography and GIS with a Sustainability minor (so basically a mini-Michelle). I like to travel, swim, and make waffles. My favorite thing about the Honors Program is Professor Kung; she is awesome! I highly recommend students take all of her classes. I learned not only A TON about Energy and Revolutions in Astronomy, but I learned how to be a more informed human being in regards life decisions.
SPAcialties: Four-year planning, switching schools, and scheduling.
[SPA 2014-2015] Nicole DiSarno
[SPA 2014-2015] Elizabeth Nelson
Hi all! I am a senior pursuing a double degree in international affairs (ESIA B.A.) and economics (CCAS B.S.) In my spare time, I play flute with the GW Wind Band and Symphonic Band, and I am also a member of Delta Phi Epsilon, Professional Foreign Service Sorority. I spent last summer studying in St. Petersburg, Russia, and studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the University of Oxford, Pembroke College for the 2013-2014 academic year. I absolutely love the honors program for the fabulous people and great classes (and of course, the food during finals!)
SPAcialties: Double degree programs, music, truly excessive amounts of study abroad, and insane four year plans.
SPA Bios: Eva Martin
Hi, I’m Eva! I grew up in the greater Washington DC Metropolitan Area (Silver Spring, MD) but home base is now Park City, Utah. I do a lot of reading and skiing in Utah and a lot of reading and running in DC (I know all the best trails). I am a sophomore in the Elliott School double majoring in Middle Eastern Studies and International Affairs with a concentration in Security Policy, and I spend most of my time doing things related to Persian. My favorite Honors class was definitely Origins, both semesters.
SPAcialties: Four-year-planning and scheduling, as well as approaching professors and TAs (they are usually super helpful) when questions/problems arise. Also, as DC native, I’m always happy to give recommendations on restaurants, museums, the zoo, day trips… anything you’re curious about!
[SPA 2014-2015] Sam Lewis
I’m Sam Lewis, from South Florida and am double majoring in Political Science and Communication. I love attending events where amazing speakers come to GW, interning my life away, and exploring dc. I work at the Honors townhouse and spend nearly all my free time hanging out there. From discussing political philosophy with the professors who pop in, to grabbing my daily free coffee, the Townhouse has become my home away from home. So far, Origins (I can’t even pick a semester I prefer) is my favorite class from the program. It is THE BEST.
SPAcialties: Scheduling and over scheduling (18 credit hours, internship and job anyone?); Honors housing; Navigating the Vern as a freshman.
[SPA 2014-2015] Emily Deanne
My name is Emily Deanne and I am from the small town of Washington, Connecticut. I am majoring in Environmental Studies and I plan to Minor in sustainability. I enjoy playing tennis, reading, listening to music, and of course exploring DC with friends. There are many things to like about the honors program but my favorite would have to be the immediate sense of community. As soon as I came to GW I realized that I had a whole new family in the honors program, and that has truly made a difference everyday. My favorite class was my second semester origins with Professor Ralkowski because even though sometimes the conversations went off track each class was challenging and memorable.
SPAcialties: Time management, adjusting to the college lifestyle, anything to do with environmental studies, and listening and giving advice to my fellow UHPers.
[SPA 2014-2015] Dan Grover
Hey guys! My name is Dan Grover, I’m a Junior from Yarmouth, Maine, majoring in English, with a minor in Creative Writing! I kick around campus writing for the GW Hatchet, working on Honors things, and otherwise being around on campus. I’ll be studying abroad in England next fall, and come the Spring I’ll be right back in the thick of the Honors Program. It’s hard to pick a favorite class from the Honors Program, but I absolutely loved Origins, as well as my Arts and Humanities classes (Utopias and Dystopias? Yes, please). When I’m not doing academic things, I’ll generally be found swimming, watching Game of Thrones, writing, and heading out into the city for readings, dinner, or just a nice walk. Looking forward to getting to know you all!
SPAcialties: Scheduling; Talking to professors; Assorted writing assignments; Bad puns; Honors housing; General tomfoolery

Outside of the Honors Program, I also participate in various music ensembles on campus, including the University Singers and Chamber Choir. I also work for the student-run television station, GW-TV, serving as the moderator of the political debate program, Colonial Crossfire.
