EDUC 6427

Course Description: EDUC 6427
Advanced Instructional Design

Description:

The purpose of this course is to advance graduate students in the systematic design of instruction through the study of rapid design and development strategies. In today's training and education environment instructional designers are routinely pressured to speed up the instructional design process in order to meet organizational demands. Rather than simply skipping steps, EDUC 6427 focuses on the development of the skills necessary for rapid (yet still systematic) instructional design.

Students are expected to learn how to plan, develop, evaluate, and manage the rapid design of effective instructional materials. Building on Educ 6406 (the prerequisite for all students),  EDUC 6427 develops the knowledge and skills necessary to implement each design step in a faster format -- while still accomplishing desired objectives.

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the systematic design of instructional materials including how to plan, develop, evaluate, and manage the instructional process effectively in a compressed time period.
  • Distinguish between the various elements in the instructional design process as they are applied in rapid instructional design.
  • Identify when each of the elements in the instructional design process should be completed in an expedited process.
