The ETL Program has recently launched a program of Plagiarism Awareness and Prevention in cooperation with Indiana University. Since many of our new students have been away from the classroom for a while, because not all undergraduate programs stress equally the importance of avoiding plagiarism, and because Internet information sources can create some confusion as to how they should be handled in formal writing exercises, we find this to be an excellent "refresher" learning opportunity for all of our students. Please know that this is a required assignment, but it only needs to be done one time while you are in the ETL Program.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
All NEW ETL students, and returning students who have not yet submitted a certification for completion of this program, are now required to:
1. Complete Indiana University's mini-course on what constitutes plagiarism, found at https://www.indiana.edu/~academy/firstPrinciples/index.html.
2. Pass Indiana University's test for recognizing and avoiding plagiarism.
3. Save a copy of your certificate for successful completion of the course.
4. Submit a copy of that certificate to the ETL Program by sending it as an email attachment to etltech@gwu.edu.
