Collaborative Technologies and Informetrics

As technological advances emerge, so to do opportunities and expectations that certain technologies should be used within scientific endeavors and as a means to advance and measure effectiveness and impact of scholarship. A vast array of electronic tools are available now that enhance collaboration, through increasing ease of communications, especially among disparate team members, ensuring freedom in secured sharing of information and data, measuring impact of one’s work, and interfacing with a global academy. This ‘think tank’ will explore available and emerging technologies that enhance collaboration as well as discuss how scholars can take advantage of informetric technologies useful for advancement and promotion.

AIMS:

  • To engage in scholarly discourse on technologies for project management, sensemaking, data analysis, and knowledge sharing.
  • To provide participants with opportunities to learn how to utilize collaborative technologies to support their cross-disciplinary research.
  • To assess how technologies can be used to build communities that conduct successful cross-disciplinary research.
  • To contribute to the the mission of the University by fostering an environment where more stakeholders are knowledgeable of the technology options for supporting cross-disciplinary research.
