The Dowd lab at GWU combines organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry to understand important biological questions.  We are primarily interested in specific enzymes essential to bacterial and viral metabolism.  The small molecules we make are designed to answer specific questions regarding pathogen metabolism and lead to interesting answers regarding biology, chemistry and anti-infective drug development.
