This past January, CCAS hosted a “Lunch and Learn” information session to prospective GW students who are eligible for our Minority-Serving Institution Award. The MSI Award provides qualified individuals, from eligible institutions and who seek admission to a specified Columbian College graduate program, an application fee waiver and a tuition award of at least 40 percent!
To qualify for the award, an applicant must:
- be admitted to a Columbian College master’s degree, graduate certificate program or PsyD program;
- expect to receive an undergraduate degree from an eligible MSI or already hold such a degree; and
- be enrolled in a Columbian College graduate program to receive the tuition benefit, renewable for the normal duration of the degree.
Carol Clay, a student in Professional Psychology and MSI award recipient, helped relay her experiences as a current GW student to prospective students through a student panel Q&A during the information session. Regarding GW and the award, Carol said “I love that GW is in a major city, so I was provided the opportunity to work with various populations of people. I also love the fact that GW always brings the conversation about diversity into every area. It made me feel valued and safe as a student on a large campus.”
At GW, we are always looking to increase diversity, not only in race or ethnicity, but also within the kinds of educational backgrounds held by our incoming graduate students. This is the third year the award has been issued, and we strive to continue to grow the program and increase awareness about this excellent opportunity!
To learn more about the award, you may register for our upcoming online MSI information session, scheduled for Thursday, March 14th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. For specific questions, feel free to email us at gradccas@gwu.edu.
