Capital Area Food Bank Resources

CAFB

Information from our colleagues at the Capital Area Food Bank.  The Capital Area Food Bank leads our region’s efforts to provide equitable access to food and opportunity to people struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Each year, they source and distribute the food for more than 50 million meals.

1.  Link to information about Nutrition and Wellness

The CAFB Was one of the first food banks in the nation to put nutrition at the center of their operations. They adopted a food acceptance policy limiting high sugar donations from retailers, and were one of the first to employ a wellness tracker to monitor the nutritional content of our inventory.

2. CAFB Produce Guides

A collection of fruit and vegetable guides is part of the CAFB’s work to not only acquire and distribute healthy food, but also to educate the community about how to maximize their food budget and cook at home.

3.  CAFB Recipes

The Healthy Recipe Database is a free resource for delicious, healthy, and affordable recipes.

4.  CAFB 7-Ways Cards

These cards, available in both English and Spanish, help identify seven new ways to look at a familiar item, or seven ways to try something new.
