How I got the internship at Amazon: Saurabh Chugh

This blog post is part of the Student Spotlight series, which was originally published in the current student newsletter. It highlights SEAS graduate students taking on exceptional career and research opportunities. This spotlight features Saurabh Chugh, an M.S. Computer Science student, who scored an internship at Amazon this summer.

  1. How did you find your internship at Amazon?
I applied online through amazon.jobs - they have a dedicated section for university recruitment where all of the graduate internship positions are posted.
  2. What are some of the responsibilities you will have as an intern at Amazon?
As a Software Development Engineer intern, I will design, write, and test real software while partnering with a select group of experienced SDEs; articulate technical challenges and solutions; and handle ambiguous or undefined challenges through abstract thinking.
  3. What are you looking forward to the most during your internship?
I'm looking forward to enhancing my technical skills by working on a new framework or a new programming language. This internship will also help me to apply the concepts I've learned in the classroom to practical solutions.
  4. Any advice for your peers who may be interested in pursuing a similar internship?
Apply on time and prepare well for interviews.
