Save the Date: What Decolonizing our Classrooms Looks Like

On Friday, March 25th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET, Dr. Maranda Ward and four GW students will facilitate a webinar titled, “What Decolonizing Our Classrooms Looks Like.”

Not only will they share current GW teaching resources, but they will also align the need to decolonize the classroom with the justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) values of GW. Anyone who is a part-time or full-time lecturer, adjunct, teaching assistant, or faculty in any discipline at the under/graduate or doctoral level is the primary audience, but all are welcome.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the academic colonial legacies that threaten JEDI institutional values;
  • Define what it means to decolonize a classroom;
  • Discuss hands-on examples of how to apply a decolonizing JEDI lens to the syllabus, course instruction, and learning assessments.
