November 18-19th : Webcast Symposium on Engineering and Human Rights

Day 1 | Monday, November 18, 2024:

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Committee on Human Rights (CHR) and the National Academy of Engineering's CESER Program are hosting a webcast symposium exploring the intersection of engineering and human rights.

This two-day event will examine how engineers can contribute to protecting and promoting human rights. Attendees will gain insights into how human rights-based approaches can help tackle pressing challenges, fostering collaboration between engineers and human rights experts.

Goals of the symposium:

  • Highlighting the critical role of engineers in advancing human rights.
  • Exploring innovative solutions through the lens of human rights in engineering.

November 22 at 1 PM: Free Online Workshop—Data Literacy 101

Join us for “Data Literacy 101: Unlocking the Power of Data”, a free online workshop led by Ahmad Pratama, Data Literacies Lead at Stony Brook University Libraries.

In our data-driven world, understanding and leveraging data is more important than ever. This workshop will cover foundational concepts of data literacy, explore different types of data, and emphasize the importance of reliable data sources.

Presenter Bio:

Dr. Ahmad Pratama, a Fulbright Scholar, earned his PhD in Technology, Policy, and Innovation. With a unique blend of academic and applied experience, Ahmad is dedicated to advancing data literacy across disciplines. His expertise makes this session invaluable for anyone looking to enhance their data skills.
