The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) is offering a two-part virtual series focused on mental health for community engagement practitioners, scholars, and students. The sessions will take place on July 18 and July 25, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 PM ET.
To participate in these free sessions, GW faculty and administrators can register for each session separately. The deadline for registration is not specified, so interested parties should sign up as soon as possible to secure their spot.
The IARSLCE 2024 Summer Virtual Reboot Camp consists of two sessions:
- Session 1 (July 18): "Take a Step, Pause & Breathe: Look after Your Mental Health, Recharge & Reflect in a Safe Online Space for All Community Engaged Colleagues"
This session offers a chance for community engagement professionals to focus on self-care and mindfulness. Participants will hear from speakers on mindfulness, share stories in small groups, and engage in mindfulness activities.
- Session 2 (July 25): "Nurturing Student Mental Health through Community-Engaged Pedagogy"
This session will explore pedagogical approaches that support student mental health within community-engaged initiatives. Participants will learn about effective practices to promote student well-being and discuss ways to adapt these practices to diverse campus settings.
Both sessions are designed for community engagement professionals, faculty, and graduate students with any level of experience in higher education community engagement. The events aim to provide an informal, interactive, and introspective space for participants to renew, reset, and reboot for the upcoming academic year.
