In an effort to share Foggy Bottom’s rich history with GW students and the greater community, the Foggy Bottom Association (FBA) created a History Project. The Project includes the “Funkstown Blog," which captures the stories behind several landmarks within the neighborhood and a resources guide.
The FBA’s recent Project has the potential to become a great community partner for GW's service-learning courses. In the near future, the Project plans on adding the following resources:
- A self-guided walking tour of the Historic District;
- An illustrated timeline of Foggy Bottom area events, photos and facts;
- An interactive map of the Historic District row-houses and alley structures allowing residents and others to add photos of the homes, historical records and other information;
- A collection of oral histories; and
- Projects that involve partnerships with the FBWE Village, GWU students and faculty, and others.
