Hi this is great work-wondering if you've found ways to stay in touch since the closing of campus-have their been any virtual visits or letter writing? I bet they really miss the team.
Great question! We are thinking about putting together a video with pictures from the year and individual video clips with short messages. I really like the letter writing idea as well and will pass that along to the team, thank you!
Loved that you guys were able to build genuine relationships overtime!
Thank you! It is really great to think back on how the relationship started in the fall compared to where it is now.
It looks like you established strong relationships -- and I think we all should try the chair yoga at our desks!
Thank you! We definitely reccommend trying out chair yoga, it was a lot of fun.
I bet the relationships y'all built during your time there in-person are becoming very helpful in transitioning to virtual services! Are there any plans to continue this program in-person next year?
Saint Marys has been a partner of ISCOPES for many years and we hope that the partnership willl continue next year. We have created transition materials to pass onto the next incoming team!
Hi ISCOPES Team,
Wonderful job! Although your semester got cut short, it seemed you learned two vital lessons: 1. People participate at higher rates when they are a part of the decision-making process and feel they are heard/asked first before programming is established and 2. Relationships before recommendations, especially when it comes to improving one's own lifestyle or actions. It seems like you all had a great amout of fun as well, which is also key. I hope you continue listening, building relationships, and volunteering in the future with this group! Also, please continue to connect with us at the Nashman Center if there are ways we can expand or support your efforts!
Thank you! Yes, those are definitely our key takeaways that we hope to carry with us in our future projects and careers.
I'm so glad you submitted a presentation to share with the GW community both what you did for your project and what you learned. Your thoughts about listening to the community and building relationships apply to community engagement broadly. Great job this year.
Thank you so much!
I love that you all took a client driven approach to your work and showcased the value in community knowledge and experience!
Yes, there is so much value in both - community knowledge and experience! Additionally, our community (clients) were at the forefront of our implementation and we thoroughly enjoyed working with them!
Your presentation is wonderful. Your emphasis on inter-personal relationships is a great way to create longevity in regard to your service in the community.
Thank you! We really enjoyed building relationships with the senior wellness community and are so glad to hear that you were able to capture that from our presentation.
