Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) is a non-profit organization that takes a unique approach to fighting and preventing genocide. DWAG believes that empowering those who are historically excluded from peace processes enables them to foster positive change in their communities. We believe survivor engagement is vital in ending genocide and achieving sustainable peace.
DWAG is currently seeking interested young professionals to help advance the goals the organization as a development intern or communications intern. We welcome applications from undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates who are available for at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least 3 months. Communications Intern
Main responsibilities:

  • Maintain all DWAG social media accounts with relevant and up-to-date information concerning the organization and related news
  • Send mass emails to DWAG’s network
  • Research current opportunities for advertising and content management on the internet
  • Utilize social networks to maintain contact with current and future supporters as well as similar organizations
  • Monitor social media websites to track trends and impact
  • Assist with videotaping at DWAG events as needed

The ideal candidate must:

  • Be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Have excellent writing skills
  • Have experience managing social media platforms
  • Be proficient in MS Office; proficiency in Adobe Photoshop highly desired 
  • Be passionate about Sudan, women’s empowerment or human rights issues
  • Previous experience in communications preferred but not required

 
Development Intern
Main responsibilities:

  • Assist with grant proposals, including researching potential grants, editing proposal reports, and tracking submission deadlines
  • Support the identification of potential donors and supporters
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with foundations, organizations, and individual supporters
  • Manage donation entry and tracking process
  • Analyze trends in donations, gift giving, and fundraising  
  • Research and develop fundraising opportunities

The ideal candidate must:

  • Be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week
  • Have excellent writing skills
  • Have experience on social platforms
  • Be proficient in MS Office
  • Be passionate about Sudan, women’s empowerment or human rights issues
  • Previous experience in development preferred but not required
