Mexican Drug Cartels and Impotent Peruvian Presidents: ESIA Honors Seniors Present Their Research

On April 10, UHP Seniors Carly Nuttal and J. Preston Whitt will be presenting their research at the Elliott School Undergraduate Scholars conference.  Carly’s paper (Transnational Organized Crime and the Threat to Democratic Governability: A Case Study of Los Zetas, the “Newest” Obstacle to Hemispheric Security) investigated the threat to the State from drug cartels like Los Zetas in Mexico, and Preston (Humala’s Peruvian Impotence: Forced Equilibrism in Latin American Political Economy) proposed a new research agenda on shrinking policymaker agency, using Peru as a case study!

The UHP has it on the highest authorities that there WILL be cookies available in addition to the life-affirming, intellectually-enriching, dangerously-stimulating presentations.
