I've done it! I've crossed 'Safari' off my bucket list for once and for all. The experience was actually quite amazing. The company picked me up at the crack of dawn yesterday morning and trekked about 10 of us 2 hours out of Cape Town straight in to the bush. We were served a great breakfast spread with views of peacocks and elephants. After, our guide drove us around in an open truck to spot hippos, springbok, zebras, more elephants, lions, giraffes, and water buffalo. Seeing the animals I've always watched on Nat Geo was a very profound experience. And the land -I've never felt such a fundamental sense of belonging; such a weird sense to be feeling 3,000 miles from home. I do suppose Africa is the mother of us all.
