COVID-19: Updates from UHC, CVS Health and Wellbeing Hotline

In this section, we have compiled updates from UnitedHealthcare and CVS that relate to the COVID-19 outbreak, including coverage for testing costs, the lifting of refill restrictions and free home delivery by CVS. Please continue to visit the Benefits homepage for the most up-to-date information.

UnitedHealthcare

COVID-19 Testing Costs Waived

If you participate in a GW HSP or PPO medical plan, the applicable copayments, coinsurance and deductibles will be waived, for approved and authorized testing of COVID-19.  Testing must be provided at approved locations in accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

Other costs beyond the test will be covered based on medical plan benefits and applicable federal mandates. Therefore, deductibles, copayments and coinsurance would apply to care, services or supplies beyond the test itself.

UHC is regularly updating their COVID-19 website with information related to COVID-19 testing, resources for people with Medicare, and other healthcare resources.

CVS Health

Relaxing Refill Restrictions

CVS Health is waiving early refill limits on 30-day prescriptions for maintenance medications at any in-network pharmacy. Relaxing refill-too-soon limitations allows members to obtain maintenance medication prescriptions ahead of their normal fill schedule.

Refilling Maintenance Medications

Access to needed medication is important to our GW community during the uncertainty caused by COVID-19. We strongly encourage GW members who have long-term maintenance medications to refill eligible maintenance prescriptions for 90-day supplies, or up to your plan’s maximum quantity.

Free Home Delivery from CVS Pharmacy

Beginning immediately, CVS Pharmacy will waive charges for home delivery of all prescription medications. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraging people at higher risk for COVID-19 complications to stay at home as much as possible, this is a convenient option to avoid coming to the pharmacy for refills or new maintenance prescriptions.  Please refer to the CVS Caremark FAQ document on home delivery needs.

Wellbeing Hotline

The Wellbeing-Hotline is a GW-sponsored EAP program that provides you with daily life support. During the COVID-19 outbreak, specific resources have been developed to help employees manage their emotional health and daily needs. To log on please follow these instructions or call the Wellbeing Hotline at (866) 522-8509.
