Over the past academic year, classrooms that were once confined to Foggy Bottom now span the United States and the world. This year, in an effort to share the diversity of locations and communities our students have experienced throughout the past year, we invited Elliott School students to submit original photos that capture the world where you are.

Jakarta: As an international student, on top of the pandemic hardship, immigration restrictions have added unnecessary anxiety. I left for Jakarta in December 2020 to obtain my student visa. The picture is taken from the busy streets of Jakarta. This photo was taken on the boardwalk in Duck, the Outer Banks, NC. Taken close to my home at Blodgett Canyon in Montana’s beautiful Bitterroot Valley. Blodgett formed when glaciers from the Ice Age era receded, leaving only the 8,500 foot deep canyon behind.
