Dr. Daisy Le, with her Ph.D. and MPH/MA credentials, is an esteemed assistant professor at the Policy, Populations, and Systems department. As a social scientist, her expertise lies in community-driven cancer prevention and highlighting health disparities. A University of Maryland alumnus, she further honed her skills at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Le’s research magnifies the sociocultural aspects of health, emphasizing community-based interventions using mobile technology for marginalized populations. Supported by organizations like the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, she currently works and oversees projects at the I-charm lab, one of them being the mySHARE study, exploring the potential of HPV self-sampling for HIV-positive women in the Washington-Baltimore region.

Marina K., B.S., is an MPH student concentrating in Epidemiology at GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health. Previously, she was a Postbaccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), working on projects related to environmental, psychosocial, and neurobiological determinants of substance use and substance use disorders. Her research interests include inequities in cancer prevention and care, queer health, and the application of data science to public health. In her free time, she enjoys taking ice skating lessons and exploring the DMV. 

Sara Park, B.S., started her MPH in Global Health Epidemiology and Disease Control at GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health in Fall 2023. Before this, she was a researcher at multiple labs at University of California, San Francisco, where she worked on a variety of projects related to COVID-19 and preterm birth. Her research interests include health disparities and cancer epidemiology, particularly understanding the role of infectious agents and the environment in cancer etiology. When she’s not working, Sara enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.

Annie Coriolan Ciceron is a public health professional with a wealth of experience in program management, research, and monitoring & evaluation in the U.S. and internationally. She has supported the management and implementation of various projects in the iCHARM Lab since 2019. She strives to provide meaningful support to organizations in their efforts to address health disparities. She enjoys traveling, especially to warm tropical areas, and trying new experiences with families and friends.

Mrs. (Jaime) Min Jeong Jeon, MSN, RN, APRN, CPNP-PC, is currently a Ph.D. student at the George Washington University School of Nursing. She is a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner certified by the Pediatric Nursing Verification Board. Her research interests include health disparities, child health, women/mothers living with HIV, and HPV infection and vaccination.

Medha Gaddam is an undergraduate student in GW’s BA/MD program and will matriculate into the School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2025. Medha’s research interests include neuroscience, socioeconomic/cultural determinants of health, and healthcare delivery for underserved populations. In her leisure time, she enjoys dancing, writing, and traveling!

Marlene Huerta, B.S., MPH, is deeply invested in research. Formerly a project assistant at USC’s Center for Population Health, her recent focus has shifted toward ovarian cancer studies. Marlene’s primary goal is to advance in research, assisting in crafting impactful interventions for marginalized women to enhance their health outcomes.

Ela Moni is an undergraduate student at GW, majoring in Public Health and minoring in Biology. Prior to joining the iCHARM lab, Ela worked as a research assistant at the GW School of Medicine. She assisted in studies that investigated how social determinants of health are contributing to the rising cases of cardiovascular disease in low- and middle-income countries. Ela’s research interests include policy issues relating to health systems reform and health care accessibility and affordability in underserved communities. 

Salaar Yousaf is an undergraduate student at the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences at GW. He is majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Political Science. Salaar received an early acceptance to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at GW SMHS. He also plans to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the future. He has previously assisted a Ph.D. Scholar at the GW Anthropology Lab with her research on primate behavior. Salaar’s research interests include, but are not limited to, HIV, Cancer, Alzheimer’s, and primate behavior.

Anne Diouf is currently in a gap year before applying to graduate school. She graduated from GW in 2019 with a B.S.H.S. in Medical Laboratory Science from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Anne’s research interests include sickle cell anemia, cancers, aging, organ donation, global and climate health, community health, immigrant and refugee health, and precision medicine. In her free time, she enjoys Bikram Yoga, pilates, reading, hiking, and listening to music.

Jimmy Y. is an undergraduate at the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences(CCAS) at George Washington University. He is majoring in Neuroscience. Jimmy recently joined the ICHARM Lab team as a research assistant, and his research interest is Cancer, HIV, and Mental Health. During Jimmy’s free time, Jimmy enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Taosif Irfan is a Physiology & Neurobiology undergraduate at the University of Maryland, College Park, with a minor in Humanities, Health, and medicine. He is on a pre-PA track. His research focus encompasses social determinants of health, intersectional health disparities, community interventions, and socioculturally-sensitive health care. Outside of academic pursuits, Taosif is a member of two competitive South Asian dance teams at UMD and enjoys streaming shows and shopping.

Maithiri Dhinakaran participated in American Medical Physiology Club (AMPC) has been incredibly enriching for her. She gained insights into the pre-health field, learned technical skills like scientific paper writing, and been matched with the I-CHARM lab through the research symposium program. Since November, her research abilities have grown, including conducting literature reviews and data analysis. Maithiri interests lie in sexual/reproductive health, women’s health, and infectious diseases, and I’m majoring in public health. Outside of academics, She enjoys reading, yoga, exploring new eateries, and traveling.

Jasmine Valencia is a junior majoring in public health on the pre-PA track. She is interested in using research to address health disparities among minority groups, with a focus on preventative and community health among women, children, and underserved populations. Her research interests include cervical cancer and HPV among WLH. Jasmine enjoys listening to and learning about music, sewing, reading, and exploring new dining spots in DC. She has her own radio show called “dialin511” through GW.
