At the I-CHARM Lab, we are at the forefront of pioneering research in community health. Under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Daisy Le (Ph.D., MPH/MA), our laboratory is dedicated to the advancement of community health awareness and knowledge dissemination. With an emphasis on expanding outreach and bolstering advocacy, our primary objective is to enrich health behaviors and outcomes among underserved and vulnerable communities. Locally based in the DC area at George Washington University, the I-CHARM lab focuses on improving health behaviors and outcomes in underserved and vulnerable populations and has partnered with both government and community-based organizations to serve the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan (WBMA) community.

Community partnership in efforts to reduce liver disease

The process evaluation has been conducted to determine whether CBPR-driven partnership and programmatic activities have been implemented as intended and have resulted in building expanded research capacity for future ACG partnership HBV community-level initiatives. Read more

HPV knowledge and barriers for women living with HIV during the pandemic

High-risk human papillomavirus HPV causes 99 % of cervical cancer cases. Despite available prevention methods through the HPV vaccine and two screening modalities, women continue to die from cervical cancer worldwide. Cervical cancer is preventable, yet affects a great number of women living with HIV WLH. Read more

Perceptions on patients care for individuals living with Hepatitis B during Covid-19

The novel coronavirus of 2019 COVID-19 has been and continues to be a rapidly developing public health crisis, that has also disrupted routine and maintenance health care for people living with chronic conditions. Some of these chronic conditions also put individuals at increased risk of COVID-19 complications, particularly if the condition is not under control.
