Mid-August has finally arrived and that means it’s time to welcome our new students to GW! On Wednesday, August 14th, the CCAS Student Services team hosted an on-campus orientation session for all new CCAS graduate students. The orientation featured a welcome speech from our Associate Dean of Graduate Studies (Dr. Chad Heap), an informative presentation on checklist items for new students including how to register for classes and navigate life in the D.C. area, and concluded with a rousing game of bingo complete with prizes to pump up the crowd. Everybody loves a free water bottle!
While most CCAS graduate programs hold their own separate department orientations additionally, we felt it was important to provide our new students with the opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow CCAS students across all 90+ of our programs. If you’re an incoming CCAS graduate student and weren’t able to attend, there’s a good chance your department will be hosting an orientation within the first few week of classes, so be sure to check in with your Director of Graduate Studies (DGS). And don’t forget to attend the Graduate Student Welcome Ceremony, as well as some of the ongoing events during Welcome Week!
