FAQs

When do the visits take place?
On Thursday, August 22nd, 2019

What is the typical format of the visit?
The visits are typically ninety (90) minutes in length and can consist of an organization  presentation, information session, tour, Q&A, and networking.

How many groups will I host that day?
Just one. The groups will be visiting 3 different organizations that day, but you will only see one group of 10-15 graduate students during your selected time frame.

Can I choose the date and time?

While the date for the DC visits is set for August 22nd, the earlier you register your visit, the more likely you are to obtain your requested time.  The start times for visits are slightly flexible, but most start at 9:00am, 11:00am, and 3:00 pm.

Last year, the Elliott School conducted 52 visits simultaneously. We tried not to schedule similar firms at the same time to ensure the employers had our top students. However, it was not always possible. Likewise, we will try to accommodate your request the best we can.

What do students enjoy the most from a visit?

Based on the feedback we received from students who attended industry visits, one of the invaluable components they stated is an opportunity to network. Therefore, if you can leave some time for the students at the end to network or complete a networking exercise, it not only helps the company determine students who may be a good fit, but also provides the students the ability to expand their network.

Who from the company should attend the visit?

This is completely up to you. We found that the most successful visits are those that include George Washington University alumni. Students enjoy hearing stories from alumni about their college experiences and transition to work.

How many students typically attend each visit?

Most visits average 15 graduate students, however the number of students that attend each visit is completely up to you. We have had visits for five students, 50 students, and everything in between.
